The sun continuously provides the earth with roughly 100 Petawatts of power. That's 100,000,000 average fission nuclear reactors. With this in mind it becomes clear that our perceived energy shortage is merely a lack of energy conversion and energy storage technology. Jirafa LLC was founded in central California by Jesse Adamson in 2015 to address these shortcomings, specifically through Power Electronics and Control Systems. 

Power electronics has grown steadily since the founding fathers Nikola Tesla and Thomas Edison brawled it into existence in the previous century. As electricity has found its way into every facet of our lives much of the magic has been lost. We spend most of our days interacting with devices that increase our leverage and control over our environment, all the while demanding a unique buffet of electricity. The chef in this analogy is Power Electronics.

Everyone wants to get their hands on the controls. Luckily there are plenty to go around, especially when you're in power. Fundamentally, control systems regulate an output based on a set point. This set point may be static or dynamic over time. Some controls are very complex like rocket guidance systems, while some are less so, like a home thermostat.

Our two main areas of focus are spacecraft and terrestrial mobile or off grid power systems. Though these three environments are severely different, they have similar scales and power requirements. Our mission is combining the high reliability and ruggedness of space based power systems with the low cost and high efficiency of terrestrial off grid solutions to produce a set of hybrid systems that outperform traditional systems for the emerging New Space and Renewable Energy markets.
